I first found out about My Little Pony Friendship is Magic on Deviantart. (an art website). Every time I would go on there, the most popular art would be pony-related. I couldn't understand this odd new trend. After I saw its popularity wasn't subsiding, I decided to investigate to see why these multi-colored equines held such appeal over the masses. I found some episodes on demand, so I got my brother to watch it with me with the intent to make fun of it. I was pretty sure it was going to be stupid.
To our immense surprise, the show was awesome. What started out as two miscreants setting out to make fun of a childish television show turned into a full-blown obsession. Shortly thereafter, most of my family were assimilated, including my 5 year old sister, Katie.
I had to come to terms that I was in love with a cartoon about ponies intended for a young female audience. (It's extremely unusual for me to like anything 'girly'). I then set out to buy every piece of My Little Pony merchandise in existence -- for Katie.
