CHRISTIE: I don't want to learn how to drive. Ever. Driving at high speeds in a large, heavy, dangerous vehicle with other large, heavy, dangerous vehicles around sounds like a disaster waiting to happen.
If I was going somewhere I feel like I'd get really stressed out about getting lost. I wouldn't know what to do, and take a wrong turn and end up in a ghetto or something.
I still feel like I'm 10 years old inside, and the concept of driving by myself is as intimidating as it was six years ago.
So. That's why I don't want to drive.
CHRISTIE'S MOM: Christie will eventually learn to drive and I think she'll be a very good driver. But most likely not before she's 18. I'm glad she takes safety seriously, but she has probably watched way too many high speed car chases on "Cops."
She needs a pretty good incentive or reason to try new/difficult things. So when driving becomes necessary for her to get somewhere she really wants to go (and she's not still feeling 10 inside) that'll be all it takes.

Christie,
I really don't want to drive, either. When Alex learns to drive, I can ride with him.
