David's Mom:
These are some notes that David took a few years ago about Henry Hudson.
On the first day of learning about Henry Hudson, I let David take notes in comic book panels. He likes comics and this made a lesson he really didn't care about become something that was 1. Interesting to David and 2. Put it in a visual format that is David's learning style.
The second day, David went back and wrote down what he remembered about the lesson. It was pretty incredible what he could recall based on his comic book notes.
The process did take longer than just taking conventional notes. But in the end, David really remembered the story and the facts. Isn't that the point?
Tip: Whether taking notes or writing down assignments, try to let your Aspergers teen utilize the methods that come naturally to them. A lot of kids, Aspergers or not, are visual or kinetic (movement) learners stuck in a very auditory learning world.

I love this!!! My oldest son has Aspergers, and has been having difficulty with taking notes in class. However, he LOVES to draw comic book slides, and he has the stories all memorized. I think I am going to recommend this to his teacher. Thank you so much for sharing!!
