I allow my hand to regurgitate the contents of my brain with a pen set at a low opacity.
On a layer below the pen layer, I put in the basic colors for the branch and birds using an airbrush.
In a layer below the basic colors I roughly color in a backround. Also add some details on one of the birds with a small brush. Use a smudge tool for the highlights and shading to make it smoother.
More detail in everything. Used a tiny brush for the feather detail.
Even more details. There.
The only reference I had was a small photograph of a toucan.
I was pretty proud of this when I made it a year ago. Now there are a lot of things I would change, but it's still one of my favorite paintings that I've done.
It's beautiful!

Oh my gosh, this is beautiful. Your work is gorgeous and I am very impressed with your ability. I remember seeing your work several years ago when you were very young and knew then you had talent. Look at you now. You make it sound easy, but I know it's not. Great job Christie!

Wow. Wow. Wow. I wish I knew how to do something like this! What program did you use to "paint" this in?

Jessi, I used a bamboo tablet with Corel Paint on a mac
