While we're on the subject of lining things up, I (Christie) used to line these babies up every day. These magestical stuffed beasts are Audubon birds. (They are far superior to Webkinz.) I've been collecting these since I was four. Each one plays a recording of their respective species' call when squeezed.
I used to have them lined up in my room on shelves in a specific order. I would look at them every day. A lot of these I bought myself, so they meant a lot to me.
One day, (I was about 8) when I wasn't home, our neighbor's idiot kid snuck into my room and proceeded to dislodge every item that I owned from my shelves. Including these birds.
So when I returned home, I was greeted by the sight of every beloved thing I owned scattered about on the floor of my room.
Needless to say, I flipped.
This memory is pretty blurry now, but I still remember feeling rage as hot as the core of the earth. I couldn't believe someone actually had the gall to come into my domain and touch all my beautiful, organized, sterile stuff.
My mom flipped out at my flipping out. She grounded me from everything because she couldn't understand why I was making dying whale noises for hours. But that only made me more mad. She was mad at me but I was mad at her for not understanding. I thought she should've gone over and asked the neighbors what was wrong with their psychotic kid. I felt betrayed.
Now I always keep my door locked to keep out my brother John, stalker vampires, phantoms, elementals, and straying neighbor kids.
I'm sorry this happened. Why was your mom mad at you?
