Things that mess me up Part 1: Stars

Today, my mom and I were talking about random stuff. I kept beginning sentences with "You know what really messes me up?"  

One of the things that messes me up is stars.

Because planet Earth is so big, but it's teeny in comparison to Jupiter. And all the planets in our solar system are hardly anything compared to the sun. The sun is almost unimaginably huge. But the sun is just a speck in comparison to the largest stars. These things look big enough to be entire universes by themselves. But no, they are just an infinitesimal piece of dust campared to an entire galaxy. Our own galaxy has around 300 billion stars, and there are an estimated 100 billion galaxies in the observable universe. All these stars.

Just floatin' around.

Being incandecent conflagrations of infernal hellfire.

What the heck.

Thanks for reading the blog in 2014. Our parents make us write it so it is kinda surprising sometimes that people want to read it. So thanks for that.

Movie Review: Guardians of the Galaxy

Today I saw Guardians of the Galaxy. I thought pretty much everything about the movie was top notch.

It didn't feel like your average super hero movie. It was more of an action adventure story with good guys that are a little more self invovled than most heros. They are mostly good guys. Deep down. 

Marvel keeps making these really great movies within the same continuity. So it is cool that Captain America references The Avengers which references Thor, etc. Also, there is 1 bonus scene at the end of the credits. It is kinda weak but it is Marvel so you have to stay and watch it. These are all good stand alone movies or great to watch in a series. And the soundtrack to this one was retro. We downloaded the whole album on iTunes.

My favorite character was Star Lord (better known as Peter) because he had the gadgets of Iron Man and the swagger of James T. Kirk. I mean, he gave himself his own super hero name. If I were to give myself a name it would depend on the circumstances, the powers I had...but I guess I wouldn't know what those would be until the moment was happening.

I think people who like action, adventure, comics and science fiction would like Guardians of the Galaxy. It is PG-13 and all (violence and some language). 

Also, if you don't know what a "mixtape" is, you should look it up before you see the movie.

Laughing With Asperger's Birthday and Book Give Away

So it has been a year since our moms made us start blogging about having Asperger's Syndrome. To celebrate, we are giving away a book that the moms really liked and reviewed called Look Me In the Eye. 

Personally, I think Transformers would be better as a prize. Christie would probably like some plastic animals. But whatever. 

My mom liked Look Me in the Eye because it gave a positive image of the future of growing up with Asperger's. That is what we are trying to do with the blog. Have Asperger's Syndrome and a positive attitude. And some humor.

Age:  17

When did you start writing this blog?:  About a year ago. It was my mom's and David's mom's idea. 

What do you like best about it?:  I like that I have a spot to put all of my animal photos. 

Do you feel you see the world differently because of Aspergers?:  I don't know how other people see the world, so I don't know.

How as an Aspergers diagnosis helped you?  My parents don't yell at me as much. 

What are your hobbies? Finding and photographing animals, collecting plastic animals. Sculpting -- mostly animals. I used to draw but hurt my arm and haven't been able to.

Are you and David friends? That would depend on your definition of 'friends'. 

So how do you know David?  Our parents are friends.

Do you think your blog is helpful to people?:  Maybe. I would hope so.

Name:  David

Age:  15

How old were you when you were diagnosed with Aspergers:  I was 7. The Dr.'s thought I had Autism until my mom took me off of dairy products.  A lot of my issues got better and my diagnosis was changed to Asperger's. I guess that is why my family has always seen Asperger's Syndrome as kinda a good thing.

How does your Aspergers affect you:  I seem to feel, hear and sense things more than other people.  A lot more. I don't wear jeans.  I only wear comfy clothes. I can either get really super hyper focused on something I like or forget about stuff that isn't that important to me.  I spend  hours every day drawing or sculpting little clay figures.  I also research my favorite subjects, like animation and TV shows, a lot.

How do you know Christie: Ur. Um. Barely. I mean I know her as a friend just not really know her as much as my other friends like her brother. My parents and her parents are good friends. We don't hang out together much. She kinda likes to be isolated. I like to be isolated too. So basically we don't hang out much because we both like to be isolated and you can't do that together.

Why are you writing this blog:  It might be cool to put some neat things on it. But also, my mom is making me.
